Mike's Obituary
San Jose Mercury News
Francis
Michael Wible
was
born July 25, 1955 in Kaiserslautern, Germany. Passed away January 2, 2004 in
Santa Clara, CA, after a hard-fought battle with brain cancer. Son of Francis
L. Wible and Margaret Miller Wible (who preceded him in death in 1984). Sister,
Carol A. Wible-Torres. Uncle to Caley Haakma, Hilary Anger, and Maddy Torres.
Friend and colleague of many. Mike lived in Germany and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania,
but grew up while living in San Diego. As a youth, he had a penchant for music
and the technology around it, so he obtained a degree in music while playing
professionally in bands in the local area. Mike was also a people person, always
friendly and helpful, and so also studied and received a degree in psychology
from San Diego Mesa College. He moved to San Jose in the early 1980's to be
closer to his mother and sister, and worked with several court reporting firms
in downtown. Mike's interest in digital music led him to return to school and
switch careers into technology, where he worked for Hewlett-Packard, UpShot,
and Siebel Systems in information technology and telecommunications. Mike's
first love was always music, and he was an accomplished keyboardist. During
the 1980's, 1990's and through 2002, Mike was a large part of the south bay
music scene, playing for Hush and the Robert Berry Band in clubs, festivals,
and studios. He recorded tracks on a number of albums, eventually branching
into studio engineering and production work where his keen ear and musical creativity
assisted other bands and solo professionals as they recorded their own work.
A Memorial Mass for Mike was held Friday, January 9, 2004 at Holy Family Catholic
Church, 4848 Pearl Ave., San Jose, CA 95136.
Donations to the American Cancer Society at 1-800-227-2345 preferred. Private
Entombment at Los Gatos Memorial Park.
